A/Way a feature film

After suffering a profound loss, a travel journalist is sent on assignment to Martinique, which sparks a candid reflection on her unsettled life. Blending the lines between documentary and narrative, A/way focuses on the stories of the people Anna profiles in Martinique (played by non-actors), which pushes her to examine her path forward coming to terms with her grief. This film is a unique take on one's place in life. Is this all there is, or is there another way?

Directors Statement

I started off in documentary film production, and that influenced the style of this film and transformed my outlook on narrative storytelling. When I was given the opportunity to shoot in Martinique, as my producer, Marc Enette, is from there, I knew the subject matter of this narrative film would provide the opportunity to make this transformation come to life. This project was inspired by Italian neorealism and American independent cinema, and it shows throughout the film. Our main character finds herself in these happenstance scenarios with non-actor Martinique locals but still creates a fictional narrative to deliver the truth and world of the film.
